Joanne Brown is the primary practitioner with Authentic Being, offering treatments at her Calgary, Alberta treatment studio.

Also a Reiki Master, Joanne received her certification as an NLP Master Practitioner while attending training at the University of California -- Santa Cruz. Training was provided by Robert Dilts, Judith Delozier and Suzie Smith, all world-renowned leaders in Neuro Linguistic Programming. She is certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, in addition to having an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training certificate through the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Joanne obtained a Diploma in Criminology from Mount Royal College in Calgary, with further study at Simon Fraser University.

Having spent 13 years in law enforcement working in criminal intelligence and communications, Joanne has been able to apply her experiences and interests to provide a unique perspective for individuals interested in changing their thought patterns and routines.

Joanne currently holds a position on Parent Council as Special Needs Liaison within a Calgary Board of Education elementary school. Her past volunteer experience has included work at the Calgary Young Offenders Centre, the Strathmore Youth Detention Centre, Woods Homes, AACL and the Calgary Board of Education.

She has also been trained for the dynamic Families and School Together (F&ST) initiative and currently acts as a Parent Partner to help to facilitate the program within a Calgary public school.

Joanne's previous training includes certification as lifeguard, swim instructor and diving coach. She has also completed a wide range of courses ranging from how to utilize sensory strategies in schools and motivational seminars to certificate courses on leadership and dealing with abusive behaviours and attitudes.
